A. Describe some common aesthetic aspects of “news”-related photographs.

  - News related photographs seem to have a kind of "telling" aspect to them. Usually they are captioned, so the message is clear. The photographs are often used to improve the visualization of a story.

B. Describe some common aesthetic aspects of “snapshots”, including family photographs, cell-phone shots, photos posted to facebook, 

 - I feel as though snapshots are often a documentation form of photography. These photographs are often used to immortalize a memory or point in time.

C. Describe some common aesthetic aspects of advertisement photographs, including fashion photography, product photography, etc

 - Advertisement photographs are used to display a product in a favorable manner. They are trying to make the object look appealing so the viewer will want to buy the item. Bright colors and interesting shapes are used to draw attention.

D. Describe some common aesthetic aspects of film/movie and television stills.

 -  Film, movie, and television stills are used as a miniature summary or documentation of the film. They allow the viewer to get a sense of how the movie or television show looks. They can also be used to document important moments in the movie or television show.

E. Describe some common aesthetic aspects of yearbook photos, senior pictures, and team/club/sports group shots. 

 - These photographs are also taken for documentation and memory purposes. Preserving memories can often be an extremely important aspect of photography. These photographs are often staged in order to preserve the idealized memory or thought of the person or team.

 - Stock images must be as widely applicable and as general as possible. They are being sold to people who are using them for specific projects. However, there is no way that a stock photograph can be tailored to every single specific project. Therefore the must be completely void of context.

G. Describe some common aesthetic aspects of fashion photography. 

 - Fashion and advertising photography are similar in the sense that they are both trying to sell something by making the photograph as appealing as possible. With fashion photographs, they may be trying to sell a persona or a way in which one carries oneself instead of a physical product.

H. Describe some common aesthetic aspects of paparazzi shots or celebrity photographs. 

 - Paparazzi or celebrity photographs can go under a couple different categories. Paparazzi shots would go more towards documentation photography. The paparazzi are often trying to get a good shot of a celebrity to show that something is happening (such as they attended a certain event). Celebrity photographs can also be staged in order to promote a certain persona or to be used in various mediums (posters, t-shirts, etc). These photographs often try to portray the celebrity in the persona they are trying to portray to their audience.
